Since having the opportunity (read "blind faith") to start my own businesses, creating a new set of standards that reflected my desire to help people and the planet, as well as pay my bills, was the bar that had to be met.
Turns out, you can run a successful business and still sleep at night. Well, as a small business owner, sleep can be a luxury.
This article poses the question of the Triple Bottom Line to a larger audience, the mid- to large employer. I admit, they have many more hurdles to tackle than what I encounter in my day to day. But that doesn't mean sustainability is an impossible goal (see Interface and Seventh Generation).
The supposition that sustainability is a fad mystifies me. From a large business perspective, if the corporate barge starts drifting in a greener direction, the investment alone will make them stick with it, especially if it works and they see some financial savings.
Check out the article for yourself. Do you think it's a fad?
