The City of St. Paul hopes to make the 17 miles of river that flow through it more accessible and enjoyable to public. That means better air and water quality, better recreation, and more access to one of the largest natural resources in the Twin Cities. Click here to read the full article.

Also, Check out- Friends of the Mississippi - a great non-profit that works to protect the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities area. They put on amazing events such as the Mississippi River Challenge - which is a fully-supported 44 mile paddle from Coon Rapids Dam to Grey Cloud Island. Or, If you're the sort of person who really likes to 'dig in' for a cause, Friends of the Mississippi has wonderful volunteer opportunities as well.

If you've never been to a poetry slam, now's your golden opportunity! The 2010 National Poetry Slam is taking place in St.Paul this year. Yet another great adventure in the cities: Mountain Biking at Lebanon Hills Regional Park

15 minutes south of the cities is a treasure trove of fun: Lebanon Hills Regional Park. The Park offers about 7 miles of single track mountain bike trails for all skill levels- and every trail is awesome! The trail system is laid out in a choose-you-own-adventure sort of way, so you can hit up the winding mellow trail through pines or try the technical rock lines- whatever your mood dictates!

There are also lots of organized group rides. Ladies there's a women's group ride tonight if you're interested, or for those coeds, there's a weekly group ride.
